Seven foundational statements about the theology of missions are drawn from Revelation 5:1-10 and John 10:16 with a concentration on Rev. 5:9. First, the gospel provides eternal hope. But not the hope that God has a wonderful plan for your life. Second, missionaries go in the power of the resurrected Lord because he has already prevailed. Third, the church must be focused on local and global outreach in order to fulfill what Revelation 5:9 describes. Fourth, we do not save them; it is the Spirit of Christ that saves them. Fifth, because mission's is Christ's work it is impossible to spend too much time in prayer for the mission. Sixth, the message that the Lion became the Lamb slain for His people is what makes the message of a Christian missionary different than every other world religion and cult. Finally, the local or global missionary must never forget that missions is about worship. Missions exists because worship isn't happen (Piper). The local or global missionary is not finished when the convert receives Christ. He strive to see him worship the Lord in baptism and the Lord's Supper, in Bible study and church membership, in song, giving, witnessing and progressive sanctification.
