As we consider the testimony of the elders that went before us that what was recorded about their lives was the faith that they had of the hope of things to come. The first example is Abel. God testified that his gifts showed he was more righteous. They both offered gifts, but Abel offered his by faith while Cain did not trust in the promises of God. He still offered gifts to God, but his were not acceptable because they were offered without faith, without obedience. Because Abel offered his gifts by faith and was murdered by Cain because of it, his blood still calls out from the ground. Of course, that just as Jesus is a better high priest, His blood also calls out with greater force that does the blood of His antetype, Abel.
