As we leave Leviticus after considering a long section of symbolically what it looks like to be separate from God, we now go to Hebrews 11 which is a chapter about the examples of faithfulness producing works that God gave us in the Old Testament. The chapter starts with the principle that those who went before us had a good testimony because they believed the promises of God, that they would receive what they hoped for a city whose builder and maker was God. They understood that the reason that they could do things that were contrary to what the world said to do is that they were supported by their faith in invisible things. Their faith made them see what could not be seen and that changed what they did. It goes back to the beginning of the bible. The visible came from the invisible. God's speaking is more real substance than any physical thing that you could touch.
