If the chains, the bondage to sin, which all mankind is under (save Jesus Christ), are to be severed, only He has the power, only Christ has the strength, indeed, the ability to break the chains you bear. Indeed, if one had the power to sever the chains, what need was there for Christ to die? What need was there for the Son of God to be separated from His Father? What need was there for God the Father to send His only begotten Son to suffer the unthinkable . . . having all the sins of the children laid upon Him?
And if man has no ability or break the power of sin, then he has no ability to change his estate. He cannot bring himself into the estate of liberty or freedom. Indeed, because he cannot break his bondage to sin, he has no desire to enter a new estate. This then is why the Judaizers long to remain in bondage to the law. It allows them to remain in their old, depraved estate. No . . . freedom, or entering into this new estate of liberty, is NOT the result of the work of men. Freedom results from the call of God through Spirit |
