The presumption of the text is that he would only view all things according to God's revelation. The new creation that he talks about must not be restricted to the individual and his subjective renewal, but rather includes the whole of God's Kingdom work. This Kingdom is real, it touches all things and moves according to God's sovereign will along an unstoppable path toward the glorious consummation of all things. We are not to be waiting for the Kingdom of heaven to arrive, it is in our midst and we are to live in terms of its reality and proclaim its reality--reconciliation with God.
