The angel reveals: (#3) the weeping, lamenting and mourning of the monarchs, merchants and mariners of the earth who used Babylon, as they react to her destruction [vv.9-20], and (#4) the example, extermination and evidence of her inhabitants of Babylon as they witness her total desolation [vv.21-24]. She had led the world into a self-centered luxury that focused on iniquity, immorality and sensuality - and so the actual city of Babylon will forever cease to exist because of what she had done.
