Blessings friends, can I share a little nugget I dug up today? I spent the day reflecting upon the delightful joys and celebrations that went on in Nehemiah's day when they dedicated the fulfillment of his divine purpose in completing the walls around Jerusalem. They sung, shouted and played the stringed instruments that King David had created and fashioned for worship. And when I read this, "…with the musical instruments of David, the man of God…" (Nehemiah 12:36), I couldn't help but think of how David prepared his heart with purpose and it also reflected in the instruments he designed with purpose.
I then remembered a word I shared some time ago on this very thought. The king had gathered those in charge of the house of God and the ministry of song among God's people and he declared his intent and reason for making the tools of their trade.
David said, "I made them for giving praise." (1 Chronicles 23:5)
I love this — created for giving praise. And to apply this to the new creatures in Christ, I should say, "recreated for giving praise... to the glory of His grace."
Think with me... have you ever asked yourself why a caged bird still sings? Can I simplify the answer? A caged bird sings because a caged bird is still a bird... and birds were created to sing. A cage or the open air is irrelevant to a bird! Their air time may be restricted but their whistle is not limited by the bars of a cage or the beauty of open skies. Birds were made to sing, wherever they may find themselves.
