INTRODUCTION: Joshua was a great leader, but like all men, he had weaknesses. He tended, at times, to trust his own wisdom too much. In the incident with Achan, he planned the battle against Ai without consulting the Lord. In this chapter, he made deals with the inhabitants of Gibeon without checking with God. We all need to be careful not to fail in this area.
CONCLUSION: The will of the Lord must be the first priority of our lives. Never fail to seek God’s will in the decisions you make in your life before you make the decisions. Had Israel taken some time to pray about their decision, they would have never accepted the deal that will ensnare them in the next lesson.
