In the Biblical account of Christ's birth in Luke 2, we are told of Mary and Joseph taking the infant Jesus to the Temple for his dedication about 40 days after His birth. While there, they meet two strangers, Simeon and Anna. While we know very little about these two saints, both are represented as being devoted to the Lord in their lives and both were looking for the promised Messiah. As Mary and Joseph entered the Temple, Simeon immediately recognized the baby Jesus as the fulfillment of God's promised Redeemer and broke into a song of praise and Thanksgiving. Anna, being nearby, joined in the song of thanks and then told others about the Messiah's coming. They were only aware of Jesus' identity as the Messiah because these two people had spent their entire lives looking for Him to come.
