During times of difficulties and trials, we struggle with three unvoiced questions: Is God unfair? Is God silent? Is God hidden? Our adversary would like us to believe that the answer to all three questions is 'YES". God is unfair. God is silent. And God is hidden. That's why we need the first piece of battle armor: the shield of Faith in order to quench the fiery darts of the wicked one. The fiery darts of suffering for Christ and temptation are designed to sow doubts win our minds regarding the truthfulness of God's word, the trustworthiness of God, and the goodness of God. But what is involved in taking up the shield of faith? First we need to know the FACTS of what we believe. But the facts of faith must be combined with an ACT of faith. The facts of faith combined with an act of faith produces strong convictions of faith which are able to quench anything our adversary might throw our way. So, why does God sometimes appear to be unfair, silent, or hidden? He does so in order to build and strength our faith in Him!
