The old covenant was intended to be temporary while the new covenant once instituted is permanent such that they are not to be wedded together in the life of God's people. As illustrated by the fading glory on the face of Moses after being in the presence of the Lord so too was the fading glory of the old covenant. The old covenant was intended to point to the permanent glory of the New Covenant put in effect through Christ. Faith in Christ and the further revelation by Christ with the Scriptures brings understanding and clarity of the limitations of the old covenant and the full provisions of the new covenant for salvation.
