How does the righteousness of God get credited to a sinner's account? By grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. The faith that saves is a trust in the person and work of Jesus Christ alone. Salvation is not a team effort but rather it is Christ who has done all the work. Anything added to that faith in Christ, mixed in, or left out, nullifies the power of the Gospel to save. Faith in Christ necessitates letting go of everything else to take hold of Him.
In this section the point being made is that if you can't be saved by the keeping the Law, there is no work that can be done to earn salvation. Faith in Christ establishes the Law for the purpose it was intended - to reveal sin and the need for salvation from sin's penalty.
Furthermore since God is one and He is the only God, there is only one way of salvation.
