This passage begins to move out from the narrow focus of chapter 22 into a consideration of who we are as sexual beings in God's world. As Moses applies the 7th commandment to people before him on the plains of Moab, he confronts them with God's perfection as God. We tend to think of ourselves as automatically loved and approved by God. This is not the case. God requires a perfection and purity we cannot accomplish on our own. It was absolutely necessary for us that the Son of God take to Himself a real, true, human nature. The God-Man is the heart of our salvation and without Him we have no hope.
