Moses begins his application of the 7th commandment by addressing very mundane topics of everyday life. Israel was a very different nation from the nations around them and they were to display this even in the way they dressed. This taught Israel to show careful and particular care for their purity as a nation and as individuals. It was commanded to show them that they were not morally pure and could not make themselves pure. This inability describes us as well. Only in the One who is Faithful and True can we find and take for our own, a perfect goodness.
