For this sermon we are in the same section as we have been in for the last two Sabbaths. Revelation chapter 13 basically showed us a picture of the earth conquered by evil. The kingdoms of men have given way to the beast that rises up out of the sea. It looks to be unstoppable; it looks to be unconquerable. It has the devil’s mark all over it. And the world is as dark as it will ever be. There is a religion that worship the beast, the state, and you can’t get worse than what has been proclaimed. But in the beginning of chapter 14, we see the Lamb who is ruling among Israel, the chosen, the elect of God. They are worshipping God on Mount Zion and you can’t get any more glorious. The glory of God is pouring down over them. They are singing a new song to the Lord. They are the only ones able to learn the song, God’s Spirit has taught it to them. You simply cannot get better than what you see.
In this passage, God speaks where men have closed their ears and refused to listen because they love the darkness. He sets before us the way of life and death as He has done so many times in the past. Will you follow the gods from beyond the river? Will you follow the gods from Egypt? Do what you wish but as for me and my house we will serve the Lord. The message goes out, for God will not be silent.
