To make practical decisions—ones that will succeed and are in accordance with God's will—we must use wisdom. Before we look at how to make wise decisions, we need to talk about wisdom itself.
In the Bible, there are only two sources of wisdom: earthly (Satanic) wisdom and heavenly (God's) wisdom. God Himself is wisdom, and those who embrace worldly wisdom are denying God and thus are foolish.
In God's Word, there are different facets or types of wisdom. For example, skill is a type of wisdom. Dealing with people, maturing, acquiring knowledge, and making the right decisions are aspects of wisdom.
The wisdom model begins with God creating the heavens and the earth. The Lord, in wisdom, made all things. Not only the stuff of the universe but how the universe works (weather, gravity, etc.). He has given animals the wisdom of instincts. And He gave man, by virtue of his creation and being made in the image of God, the capacity for wisdom. |
