Pontius Pilate was a Roman “blue blood”. As Roman procurator of Judea(Palestine), his decisions were, at times, characterized by headstrong pride and inflexibility. He would demonstrate a contempt for the sensitivities of those whom he governed. As an instrument of God in the accomplishment of the redemption of mankind, he would commit both an act of injustice and consummate a fool’s bargain for his own soul. He was pragmatic when principle was called for. In short, Pontius Pilate was a car wreck of a man. His poor example should serve as a warning to us all.
