Apparently it was not enough that God spoke to them through Moses time and again declaring that Aaron and the house of Levi were the only ones permitted to serve in the office. So God uses something very simple, and does something simply amazing with it. God declares through this miracle, that HE is responsible for calling men into His service. That HE is the One that decides who will serve Him about the Holy Things. And so it is today. Men do not rightly call themselves to the ministry. Nor do others call them to the ministry…God calls them to the ministry…and HE will equip the ones He calls.
