In the big picture, Peter demonstrates in this passage that Jesus was still active and intimately involved with His church. Even today, Jesus is still involved with His church on an active basis, and moves through His agents on earth.
But we also see in Dorcas someone to emulate. The attendance at her (too soon) funeral did not indicate her spiritual status before God, but it did indicate how much of an impact she had on others.
Do you wonder if anyone will attend your funeral? First, if you're not right before God, you must settle that first, and Ephesians 2:1-9 is the place to look for that. But once that's done, once you can rest in the grace of Christ through faith, you're not just called to rest for the rest of your life. Eph. 2:10 explains that Jesus Christ has prepared good works in advance for you to walk in. That's how you will have a positive impact on the people around you, by walking in those works.
