In the American church today, gluttony is a little sin, an "acceptable sin," but don't be deceived. There is no little sin and no acceptable sin. But we don't think so. Consider, would we cuss with the same ease with which we over-eat? Would we steal with the same placid conscience? No. So, why don't we believe that gluttony is a sin? Because most Christians are doing it and so are most pastors. Because pastors are gluttonous and usually obese, they shy away from preaching it. But we must address this issue. The solution is repentance and mortification of sin, not dieting. There is a significant difference between the two. The goal is not to lose weight, though that will happen. The goal is to glorify God in our body and serve Christ as Master, rather than our bellies.
