Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego faced a difficult temptation. Have you ever tried to look like you were doing the wrong thing without actually doing it? Some people want to be cool and to do bad things. That is crazy unless we live a place that is demonized and encourages evil things. It is not okay for us to make people think that we are worshipping the statue (or any other evil) even though we might not be. Many times when we do not fall for the temptation, we will be offered another temptation. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego did not fall down and worship the statue outside the king's presence and they did not worship it in the king’s presence either. They informed the king that they did not need to defend themselves. God would do that, and even if He did not, they were not going to bow to anyone but God. When we do what God tells us to do and suffer for it, we will be set free from things that once bound us.
