GENESIS 4 Summary: We read of the birth of the first two children in the world, the brothers, Cain and Abel. (1-2) Abel offers an acceptable worship to God, but God reject's Cain's false offering. (3-7) Then through jealousy and deceit Cain murders Abel, and is convicted by God, and condemned. (8-15) He is banished and we are told of his life, behaviour and the children that are born in his family line. (16-24) God blesses Adam with another son, Seth, and then a grandson, Enos. The line of godly families being larger, there was a greater worship of God at that time. (25-26)
Devotional: (1) What is worship? (2) Why did God accept the offering of Abel and not Cain's? (3) How should you react when you have done something wrong or when you are rebuked by God? (4) Why did Cain murder his brother? (5) Are you concerned for your siblings, your family, and are you caring for their physical and spiritual good? (6) While there is evil around you, yet do you give yourself "to call upon the name of the LORD" in worship and prayer?
