Christ is at the last supper. He has dealt with Judas and sent him out, talked with the disciples about their lack of love and told Peter that he will deny Him. Now He starts to teach them to encourage them and to help them persevere. He told that that He is going away to prepare a place for them. That He will be with the Father. That He will send the comforter, the Spirit of Truth to teach them and to be with them forever. He then tells them that He will leave them with His peace, and challenges them that if they really loved Him, they would rejoice because He is going to the Father. Admittedly, this is hard for us as humans. We need to have our vision changed so that the reality of heaven and hell, are more real than the world in which we live. Jesus now goes on to teach the disciples what they would need to overcome the world. Not surprisingly, it is something that we desperately need to hear and to understand as well. This was Christ's message for His disciples as they entered into the crucifixion. It was what they needed to hear and to understand to make through. It is what we need to understand if we want to be overcomers of this world.
