First become thirsty for God’s presence by interpreting the anxieties and sorrows of your soul as cravings for Him. When you are thirsty enough, you’ll start seeking God, and that begins at the altar (deal with your sin through repentance and trust in the work of Christ on the cross). Then, cry out to God in prayer like the psalmist did. Next, immerse yourself in the light and truth that God has sent forth in His Word. Then walk through the day interpreting everything you see through the lens of those truths, so that everything you do all day long turns into a little act of fellowship with God.

Very powerful sermon! This is an extremely helpful sermon for someone struggling with feeling down, suffering from depression or going through a huge trial. It is part 2 of a 4 part series and helps you to navigate through the dark times when you don't feel God's presence. Darrell helps you to see that turmoil in the soul is a thirst for God's presence. He teaches you how to seek God and how this begins at the alter by confessing your sin and dealing with it. The next step to experiencing the presence of God is to read the Word and ask God to open your eyes to the truth about Him. Then you learn to make the connections between what you believe about God and what you experience in your everyday life.
I have been putting this into practice the last few months and it's making such a huge difference in my life and my love and intimacy with God has grown and I have so much more joy.
If you or someone you know is struggling through a low time, I encourage you to listen to it or share the link as it is life changing stuff!!!
