Hardly anything is more obvious throughout this passage than the fact that the disciples are reluctant to take the apparent risk that Jesus has proposed--"let us go into Judaea again." It is more a proposal than an abrupt charge. This is because the Spirit of God wants us to sense something of the kind of terms Jesus was, and is, on with His people as He grows their faith. This whole narrative takes place to grow their faith and ours--"I am glad for your sakes...to the intent that you may BELIEVE." Believe MORE is the idea. This message points out the blessing in taking apparent risks that are nevertheless clearly the will of God. This message points out the unhappy jeopardy of those who refuse faith risks--"if a man walks in the night he stumbles...." Are you resisting following through on something God has made clear to you--perilous though it seem? Thomas said, "let us...die with Him." That is all the faith he had at that point. His faith grew by taking the apparent risk.
