Learn to lament your sins and leave open an active place to remember your laments always. The therapeutic values of our age have undercut the necessity of lamenting. Lamenting is important in order to draw us away from destructive and sinful patterns and securely lay us in God's Gracious and Merciful answer for our sins.
After giving the historical background and overview of the book of Lamentations - Three primary lessons are drawn on the importance of lamenting. Consider that the book of Lamentations is not a record of Jeremiah's lament over the people of Judah but instead a recorded lament for them. Thus Jeremiah teaches us that intercession finds the laments of others and makes them on their behalf and that for others to come to God out of their sins they must come to that place through a lament -- a lament they must never forget.

Great Sermon! May our merciful and kind God give us genuine, heartfelt sorrow for our sins and sinful condition of our nation. It is time for a National Week of Prayer and repentance? Thereafter, daily prayer and lament until we know that God has heard and responded. It is long overdue. May God give us tears that run down like a waterfall. We are so far from him and miserable in our ineffectiveness. Lord give me Jeremiahs spirit of lament.
My thanks to our God for paster Hoogen. Pray for him.
