“ Great Sermon! ”
I wish more clergy would come together often as you do and openly discuss issues like these so members would know where their leaders stand on various doctrines and current issues pertaining to the Church in general and their church in particular. I have a question: Is the calling of God referenced in Romans 8:28 and 2 Timothy 1:9 :according to His purpose" of salvation, "according to His purpose" of office, or both. For instance was the calling and election of the Apostle Judas Iscariot was it for God's purpose to be Jesus' "Fisherman" unto salvation or was he called for God's purpose to betray Jesus and then go to "his own place;" (i.e. perdition, Hell)? In which case Jesus says that the Apostle Judas Iscariot was the only one that He lost?

“ Christians must be honest ”
Amen. Great job guys in flushing out all the issues, including church government. The authors of the 1689 London Baptist Confession, Bunyan, Spurgeon, Gill, and today, MacArthur, Washer, Dever, et. al would be surprised that being Baptist disqualifies them from being Calvinist. It boggles the mind that a seminary President would commit such huge category errors and be that woefully ignorant of church history. The only explanation is that it is politically motivated propaganda; hang onto your tradition at all costs, even at the expense of your own credibility. This teaches us all something - you cannot misrepresent your opponent's position and have any credibility. Try doing that with an atheist, Mormon, or Muslim you are witnessing to and see how far you get. It is imperative that Christians have the highest standards of integrity, even with those with whom they disagree.

“ Enjoyed Discussion ”
I really enjoyed the discussion.Having been a life-long Methodist until I was 58 (now 65), it was a struggle to embrace Reformed/Calvinistic doctrine on salvation. However, upon being convinced through my study of the scriptures I could no longer remain in the UMC. There is only one salvation and it is by the grace of our sovereign God. However, I believe we can still be in fellowship with Arminians. The way I have resolved it in my mind is that the one salvation is being viewed from two perspectives Arminianism views salvation from man's point of view and Calvinism views salvation from God's point of view. I prefer to view salvation from God's point of view.

There seems to be growing bitterness in the divide between Calvinists and Arminians in the SBC, and it seems mostly one sided. That's good, the more attention this gets, the more Baptists are drawn to the truth of God's Grace!
