What motivates you to do what you do? What would ever motivate a person to 'deny oneself, take up their cross' in order to follow Jesus? Jesus answers that question in an encounter with an unlikely disciple and a self-righteous Pharisee in the story of Simon and THE Sinner. What motivates us is LOVE-- love for Jesus Christ and what He has done for us. The one who has been forgiven little, loves little; The one who has been forgiven much, loves much. We love Him because He first loved us! That is why we are willing to give our lives to Him, to follow, obey, and even suffer for Him. It's out of gratitude, an overwhelming appreciation for what Jesus has done for us. That's what motivates a genuine, fully-devoted follower of Jesus Christ.
