Aim: To have good spiritual fruit developed and exhibited in our lives.
Exegesis: We all bear some kind of spiritual fruit. The sources of spiritual fruit: v. 16; the battle over spiritual fruit: v. 17; the key for good spiritual fruit: v. 18. Let us avoid rotten spiritual fruit. It is disgusting (vv. 19-21a) and deadly (v. 21b). Let us nurture healthy spiritual fruit. It is wonderful (vv. 22-23); it is paid for (v. 24); it is nourishing (vv. 25-26).
Key verses: vv. 22-23 ''But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law.''
