Thesis: Jesus' second coming is what the Church is awaiting; it is our hope, desire and anticipation. Paul said that our citizenship is in heaven and not this world. With this importance, what can we learn about this second coming from the Bible?
* Jesus makes clear he is preparing a place for believers and indeed will return
again to take them to where he is - John 14:2-4
* The angels state clearly Jesus will return a second time - coming back in the same way he left the first time - Acts 1:6-11
* Jesus' return will be clear and evident to each and every person - "every eye will see him" - Revelation 1:7. Will be no doubt, so we can dismiss those that say this person or that person is Christ if they are not evident to all.
* John "Amen's" Jesus' testimony that he is returning soon.
* Many debates about timing and circumstances of Christ's return, but Jesus says no one knows when he will return, but he says there will be signs leading to it - Matthew 24.
* Many are in danger by considering that Christ's return is delayed and is always at some point in the future as opposed to the command to BE READY (always).
CONCLUSION: Christ's return is reality; will be clear and evident to all; and is a great hope and encouragement to believers. The main point for us is not to determione when, but to be ready for whenever he comes back and make this truth known to others.
