Believers cannot be separated from the love of God in Christ Jesus, and in all things they remain more than conquerors. The character of a hyper-conqueror is one who gains possession, subdues an enemy and has triumph. Christians gain as possessions “all things” that work together for good, and they acquire the love of Christ through the sovereign grace of God. The subjugation of the world, flesh and devil continue through the finished work of Jesus as it continues to dispense salvation for his people. The church continues to wait for the final triumph of Christ over his and our common enemies.
In one sense the fight and triumph have already been secured by the risen Lord, but the church is called to overcome in Christ. The enemies of the Lord are unable to harm his people. Instead, these enemies become ministers of sanctification to the saints of God. The desire is not for vengeance but rather to see the name of Jesus glorified among all people.
