Faith in Jesus Christ brings the former enemy of God into an eternal personal and glorious relationship with God. That life then begins a new life as a believer in Jesus Christ, being identified with Him in a world that is yet hostile to Him. That being the case there are many causes that oppose the Christian that make life difficult and burdensome calling for endurance. It is not enough to have endured a particular trial or trouble, to be enduring, but a very real need to keep on enduring. Those who do so will prove their faith is genuine, find it being strengthened, and refined as the anticipation of God's promise heighten. Doing right and doing well in this life, before God is the believer's goal and intention but does not mean the way is easy and comfortable. We need the reminder scripture gives us so we are not caught off guard, complacent, or become discouraged.
