Yes, there's a process to "...being filled with the fruits of righteousness (overflowing and seeping the right stuff) which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God (who gives the increase)." (Philippians 1:9-11).
This layered work of grace starts with an authentic love that's rightly directed and expanding with the perfect fertilizer that's mixed in the pure and satisfying water of God. When knowledge and discernment consistently feeds our love, grace layers us with an expanding and wise love that is capable of seeing , separating and selecting the excellent will of God. We can, through God's process, distinguish the difference between what is good and better, what is good and best, what is good and acceptable, what is good and perfect.
This layer of grace is God working in us, to will and do according to His good pleasure, that we may seep out His goodness, being authentic and genuine and having no offense before the Lord. Glory!!!
Paul explained these very same layers of grace, of how the Lord expands our love, to the church in Rome (Romans 12:1-2). He used words like "transformation" and "renewing of the mind" that they may prove what is that good, and acceptable and perfect will of God. So, in essence, as Paul was praying for their growing love in Philippi, he was praying they would present themselves to the Lord, as living sacrifices... that they wouldn't be conformed and shaped to the world around them but be transformed to seep with all the goodness of Jesus.
