We know with certainty that the very voice of Christ is found in numerous places in the Psalms. Amazingly, Psalm 102 contains a dialogue between the Father and the Son. Hebrews 1:10-12 establishes this fact incontrovertibly. William Pettingill and others think the whole of Psalm 102 is really a dialogue between the Father and Son. Possibly that it so. Though Psalm 88 is a monologue I think it is Messianic, at least in part, perhaps all 18 verses. I call Psalm 88 "the darkness psalm" because of three mentions of darkness, each carefully placed: vs. 6,12,18. The last word of the psalm is "darkness." Matthew 27:45 says, "Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour." Those were veiled mysterious hours during which Jesus was vicariously made sin for us, instead of us, is the idea. I believe psalm 88 takes us somewhat behind the mysterious veil. We get a close up view of at least some of what it meant for Jesus, and for us, that He tasted death for every man. The content deserves better eloquence than I gave it; sorry. Listen and marvel.
