We can see that the aftermath of Paul and Barnabas's dispute does not hinder the work. The result of Paul and Silas visiting the churches is that the churches are strengthened. It does not await perfection before there can be healthy churches. The Lord is still able to work amidst controversy and disputes. Even doctrinal disputes do not hinder the work because they give the Lord's people greater clarity about the nature of the truth and the gospel.
The source of strength in the churches was teaching. Doctrine does not kill. It is vital for the health of the church. It is of key importance to have a view of the glory of God and of salvation by grace alone. A healthy church is a church that is being progressively sanctified; that is a worshipping church; that prays; that has great joy; and which has much love. These are the marks of a healthy church and we need to pray that these characteristics are found in our churches.
