Better men than me have decided not to preach on this account of Lot's life. I preached on it, but I excused our pre-teens from this message, preferring to give their parents the responsibility of relating the substance of this text to them at their discretion. Our last look at Lot shows us a man overcome by fear & failure. He is passive, pragmatic & perverse. The whole scene rightly occurs in the darkness of a cave, for Lot is indeed in spiritual darkness. The result of his failing is the spawning of a race of God's enemies. What a warning this is to us not to make rash disobedient decisions. What a warning against the seduction of alcohol & drugs. What a warning against the manipulative schemes of Lot's daughters. How sobering it is to realize that churches today are filled with Lot-like men. Remember Lot's life - & be warned.

God's Word is What it is Excusing the "pre-teens' of this particular congregation from hearing this particular sermon is not what a man who is a preacher of the Word of God should do. True the historical settings surrounding the passage of Lot, including incest, and homosexuality, are not palatable to us, even as adults however it is from the word of God. All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable.... God Bless.
