From its early beginnings in the UK New Evangelicalism came to greater prominence amongst Christian leaders in the USA. Dr. Masters explains that New Evangelicalism is always ecumenical, will deny the inerrancy of the Bible, will not accept the authority and sufficiency of Scripture, will use worldly methods of evangelism and has a low view of worship.

Wonderful Sermon! This sermon needs to be heard by all evangelicals. I, too, am glad to see Billy Graham called out. Especially with his recent death, he is being practically immortalized. We must remain constantly on guard against non Biblical teachings. One of the hallmarks of the last days is deception, and unfortunately, if we are unaware of what the Bible says, or we feel it is o.k. To change the biblical message to get more parishioners, we are well on our way to being deceived. Our only safeguard is sola scriptura, and this cannot be set aside for any reason. We have always been a peculiar people, and this will not change. Jesus did not change his message to accommodate the listeners, and if He did not, I don't see how anyone can make a valid argument for it. Times may have changed, but there is NO evidence to indicate, as many evangelicals have implied, that God understands this and that He finds our changing of biblical truths permissible. People today, especially biblically illiterate people, need to understand how far we have strayed from early Christianity

Great Sermon! I was riveted. Masters explains very well the downgrade in the church today and also, as some other commentators noted am glad he outed Billy Graham & John Stott for their contribution to this. Highly recommended to listen.

Great Sermon! This is one of the finest and most informative messages I have heard in near 49 yr of being a Christian. I knew in mind & heart some of this but was unable to put it all together...the most wonderful preacher Peter Masters put all I knew & thought of "New Evangekicalism"...into easy to grasp, clear understanding & I MUST fine a way to get at least 25 sets of his 2 CD messages to pass on to some over here who need it...Oh! I wish this message would be available over here in all of our Reformed Conferences we see by John MacArthur, R C Sproul, etc...So much I want to add, I wish/hope somehow as an individual withsuch limits on income, hard to get all copies of CD'S and get them to some of our Reformed brothers/sisters...Is it possible that Dr Masters can get copies of this 11996 2 messages on "The New Evagelical Downgrade" to Iain Murray, Sinclair Ferguson, The Martyn Lloyd-Jones family?...we really must get this out all over!
I will do all I can..home bound as I am mostly, limited...Last, if this can get to the true men of god I mention over in UK & in USA...think how MacArthur, Sproul, Alistair Begg w/their resources can help get it out...
Is there any out there that can get this message here of mine (with title of P Masters message on tbcmontville.org, etcto an Albert Martin,

Excellent Sermon! Dr Masters is a supurb pastor, preacher and teacher. In his years at the metropolitan tabernacle (Spurgeons) he has dealt with just about every distortion of Biblical Christianity and The True Gospel that there is, and this series is a shining example. Listen and be edified.
He has just wriitten on the "new calvinists", and his book "Not Like Any Other Book" on biblical interpretation of The Bible I can highly reccomend.

Great warning. Useful message, great warning, we must learn better to discern the teachings of many who consider themselves as evangelicals, but who distort some or more Biblical teachings.

Great Sermon! One thing that struck me about this message is that Pastor Masters does not bow down to anybody's "sacred cows." From Harold Ockenga, Billy Graham, John R.W. Stott, Carl Henry, to even the Tyndale Bible, J I Packer, Walter Kaiser's "dry as dust" Bible exposition, Campus Crusade are each weighed in this balance and shown where they are found wanting. And yet I must agree with him because none of these persons' works are in my library except a couple of yet unfinished Packer books.
The lectures remind me of Iain Murray's work, Evangelicalism Divided, but continues in an excellent outline of how to properly examine the contents of Sacred Scriptures and teach the same.

Absolutely essential ! Superb analysis and critique of the new school of hermeneutics being taught in virtually every so called "evangelical" seminary these days. The layperson is completely unaware of what these potential pastors are learning and only discover after these men enter the ministry what disasterous consequences flow from utterly rationlistic hermeneutics.
Great job Dr. Masters!

Great Sermon! The four messages that Dr. Masters has on sermonaudio are very good, clear, correct and tells of the problems of the deadness of the church today. You should take time to give these a careful listen.
Grace and peace from Jesus,
Greg

Presented Well & Thoughtfully I heard this message on www.dogrir.org. This is a thorough presentation of a great threat to the Church today. Too many "think" they are in the Church when they are really caught up in this delusion.
Dr Peter Masters has been pastor of the Metropolitan Tabernacle in central London since 1970. These sermons have been preached to packed congregations including very many young people, and many have been aired on the Tabernacle's twice-weekly television programme seen throughout...
