Tonight's text leads up to another transitional point in the story of Ruth, Naomi, and Boaz. Along the way, however, there is much for us to learn and consider. Particularly, as we see 'hesed' [lovingkindness] demonstrated over and over again. Boaz, in many ways, appears as an Old Testament type of Christ in the way in which he demonstrates hesed towards Ruth; Ruth, in many ways , is a model of the virtuous wife from Proverbs 31; and Naomi experiences of a kind of resurrection as she goes from despondent to hopeful. All will not be resolved by the time we reach verse 23; there is still a season of waiting before the story reaches its resolution, but even in that the son or daughter of God can be strengthened by the promises of God and battle the unbelief of impatience while they wait on the LORD.
