Jesus Christ came to Earth and became a man precisely in order to rescue those drawn to death. To obey God's command in this text is to demonstrate the truth of the gospel. God tells us to rescue those who are perishing, and He has supremely rescued those who are perishing in His Son's life, death, and resurrection. Brothers and sisters, if we disobey this command we are denying the gospel by our works. People won't be able to hear what our mouths say when our actions are loudly saying the opposite. What I hope to show you from our text this morning is simply this: Every Christian is responsible to protect human life, according to his or her place and calling.
