1) The world that hates. Man is by nature in rebellion against God, our sovereign King and Ruler. 2) The throne that consoles. In the hostility of the world, David is consoled by looking to the throne, the sovereignty of God. God sits enthroned in heaven and laughs and derides the wicked. He will speak in His wrath and they will be terrified because He has set His King in Zion. 3) The decree that determines. We must submit to the decree of the Son, because He has been given all authority by the Father. He was raised up and ascended into heaven, and now sits enthroned at the right hand of the Most High. Christ will reign over all, either in wrath or in grace. 4) The God who invites. God graciously implores us to be wise and humbly submit to His Son. In His kindness and patience, God still offers us terms of peace. We must kiss the Son and serve Him with fear and rejoice with trembling. All those who take refuge in Him will be blessed.
