Psalm 130 raises two matters which are ever diminishing in awareness today: the desperate plight of fallen humanity in our sin and depravity; and the full assurance of forgiveness we can have with the Lord. Lamenting our sin as the psalmist does here need not leave us in a pit of despair. Instead, it can lift us up to place of sure and steady hope in God with whom there is full redemption. May we be lifted up to that God-given place of assurance as we are encouraged to lament our own sin this week.
