The church at Philippi was founded by the Apostle Paul on one of his missionary journeys through Asia Minor. The believers at Philippi were not rich in material possessions, but they gladly shared with Paul what they did have as he went on to carry the gospel to other unreached areas of the world. Though not rich materially, they knew they were rich spiritually because of their relationship with God through faith in Christ. As you read through the Book of Philippians, you get the feeling that these are special people to the great apostle. But in writing to them as a special group of believers, he did not blindly gloss over their personal squabbles. Instead, he dealt pointedly but lovingly and fairly with the spiritual immaturity of some.
