We're in the middle of the Jacob narrative of Genesis. There are two sections at the center. Both center on increase. One centered on the increase of his family, and this study on the increase of his prosperity. This in not the easiest section of Genesis to understand, but, what we do know is this, God was behind Jacob's prosperity. Just as it happened with the increase of his family, we see the same with the increase of his wealth. Laban thought he had Jacob checkmated, but when God is for you, man's schemes will come to nothing! We applied this also to the NT believer in Christ. The NT letters give the believer principles to follow in our work ethic, but the thing we learn from the NT is to be content with what the Lord has given you, and also that the believer has been given the most precious gift by Jesus Christ that can be given to anyone, which is salvation in Christ! Amen
