here is, even in the early church, a raging battle against the truth of God's word. This battle is between God and His angels and His people, and Satan and his angels and his people. Satan's whole program is based on lies as he is a liar and the father of lies and those who are his as part of his world system are held in the deception of his lies. These persons revile angelic majesties or glories. Here we continue to look at these false prophets in a parallel passage in 2 Peter. Here, as in our Jude passage we find an emphasis on God's dealing in wrath with those who have lived ungodly lives in the past. With our words we must be under the leading of the Holy Spirit so that we don't dishonor our Lord. The false prophets and teachers are the same down through the ages. They pretend to be godly but are enslaved to their own lusts and behave as unreasoning animals behave. they promise freedom while they are themselves, slaves of corruption. Because they have turned away from the truth, they have forfeited the ability to understand the things of God, and following their own fleshly desires, they utterly ruin their lives and their eternal future.
