Isaiah was called by God to preach warning and repentance to the people but they would not turn. They looked for other revelation than from God, cursed Him, and darkness swept over their hearts and even the land. God used Assyria to take captive the northern tribes like Zebulun and Naphtali while Gentiles began to fill the land. However, the Lord promised that His glory would once again come to the north. The tribal names of the land would change to one singular name: Galilee of the Nations. All people would see the glory of God. In fact, those in darkness, those in the land of death's shadow, would see a great Light and it would shine on them. The Light penetrates the darkness that subdues the blackness with complete victory. And when this Light comes, God will be present with His people again, they will have joy as in harvest, and the battle will be over and they will divide the spoil. In fact, those who are soldiers will be able to cast their cloaks and boots into the fire as they will be rendered useless when the Light brings peace. Jesus Christ was the one who fulfilled this prophecy. He went to war with the ruler of the darkness, the devil, in the wilderness of Zebulun and Napthali, the place of death's shadow, and He won. His Light would eclipse all darkness the day of His glorious resurrection. |
