INTRO: For a number of years I have wanted to do a message called, “Your First Day In Heaven.” The time has come. Only, rather than one message I will do numerous messages. Let me give a few reasons for that. First, there is, in my understanding, a very key matter we must understand in verse 9 to understand the believer’s first day in heaven. It is the matter of the altar. And to understand that altar requires an understanding of an important subject in the OT. And to understand all that will take numerous messages, and I trust give us a brand new look at how to think about heaven. And so in this message I will simply introduce us to our subject and to the passage that will be our key passage for these messages. Second, though our central theme will be, “Your First Day In Heaven”, I want to cover a number of other very important truths related to this subject. And I trust the truths we will cover will bring our subject into sharp focus. Turn to the book of Revelation, chapter six. This will be our theme passage. In the chapter before us are a few verses that give us an amazing window into heaven. Here we get to look in and see truths that do not have to do with some little boy, or some grown man for that matter, telling a story of how he went to heaven. Here we have a divine window into heaven. Let us read verses 9-11: When He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held.
