They say that familiarity breeds contempt, but it also can breed boredom. We think too highly of ourselves and too lowly of God, so we lose the shock that God who is absolutely holy would love sinners like us enough to send His only Son to die to redeem us. We forget Paul’s wonder (Rom. 5:8), “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Paul never lost the shock of God’s love in Christ (Gal. 2:20; 1 Tim. 1:15). Neither should we. For this morning, we are going to look at a subject that reminds us about what is at the heart of a relationship with God. It's called grace. What is grace? Grace is a multi-faceted diamond. There is no single definition of grace to describe what grace is about. Someone has defined it as, 'God's riches at Christ's expense.' Someone else has defined it as, 'God's unmerited favor.' The list could go on and on. I'd like for us to focus this morning on God's amazing grace as seen in Ephesians 2:1-9. Join us as we dig in!
