King David's life has many parallels with that of the Lord Jesus. It includes the contrasting ways Jonathan and King Saul related to him. David and Jesus had a kindred spirit born of the fear of God; so do the saints and Jesus. It attracts and creates confidence in contrast to the hostilities and suspicions of the world. Saul became jealous of David because he did not acknowledge God's right to appoint whoever he chose; much like the proud hostility of the world to the claims of Christ. The two positions are irreconcilable and the church has no business to make the attempt. At the end of the Day Saul was dead and David was king. Likewise 'Jesus must reign till be has put all enemies under his feet'.
