We read verse #1, see what the meaning is and walk away still wondering what does it mean? Faith is the guarantee of what we are expecting to come to pass. That word evidence is legal material that either proves or disproves. You say you ‘just believe in God's word'; well what about it do you believe or better yet what causes you to have this faith? It was what God's word says that gives us something to believe in it. People need to choose based on what they have heard from God's word, the evidence and not hear-say. Not hearing His word but taking what someone else says about it is blind faith. God's word brings us confidence everything He has said so far has come true. So there is something there for us to take a hold of and not only that but act upon it. Faith without works is dead it needs to be put into action. Faith cooperates with our works producing substance. Yes, we are not saved by our works, but by putting faith in Him. If we say we believe but never do anything about it what good is faith? Works of faith is evidence. For many their work is not done because no faith has been added.
