Many Christian leaders and pastors today believe that you should not be taught these kind of deep things. They'll tell you that you should be content with the surface of the Bible, and you should leave this deep stuff to the scholars. Our pastor's response to this is to teach it anyway, simply because he doesn't want to have to answer to God for not doing it. He'll have enough to answer for without adding that to the list. But the funny part about all this is, the Baptist preachers here in Anchorage (who are all wonderful men of God by the way) have all asked for access to his material. I suspect they want it so they can slip some of this stuff into their sermons so they'll sound impressive to their respective congregations... but hey, if that's what they're doing, that's great!
